Accounts of Journeys – Picture-voyages in Landscapes

To be at the starting point and to reach the destination - all at the same time – this is no problem for Kai W. Reinschmidt.
His destination is Görlitz, situated in the middle of Europe and in the east of Germany.
Wolfs settle here, Robinias impose their sweet scent even to quick drivers, figures and scenes out of the myths seem to be alive.

That is the place Kai W. Reinschmidt begins his journeys without leaving the place.
32 slides, one microscope, one camera with an high resolution and one computer - these are the components of his picture-voyages, these are his means of transportation, these are the means of his chronicle.

Mr Reinschmidt connected technology and micro-arts in a very special way.
Out of the depth he worms out secret pictures by adding colour and solvents and by moving his scalpel.
He finds the pictures hidden behind the details of his fifteen-year-old slides. He treats them as maps, enlarges small parts and pulls details into the foreground. Like a reporter he covers the process with photographs. The photos he gets show just a part of a part of a part. And suddenly the viewer finds his glimpses to be whole pictures: arches, foliage, forms and points.
Mr Reinschmidt is a gambler. He opens new ways by playing with the laws of physics. And by playing with colour and light he puts up amazing effects. He leaves all to chance. He is able to let go and he leads us to enjoy our curiosity.
He makes us to approve sudden changes and to be eager for the results.
Aren't we all eager to reach our destination, to begin our cruise by entering the next unknown ship?

Kai W. Reinschmidt - spekulative fotografie
was born in the Sauerland in 1962.
After his A-level he passed vocational training to be a photographer (for business and design).
First artistic works after two years of professional work in the industry.
Afterwards he studied history, literature and arts.
Reinschmidt has been working as an artist since 1992 (free- lance).
Several exhibitions (as a member of a group and on his own as well).
Nowadays Reinschmidt is a citizen of Görlitz / Zgorzelec
